Born in Reykjavík, Iceland, August 25th 1952.
Partner: Soley Benna Stefansdottir, a graphic designer and with BA in theology and gender studies.
3 children.

Current position.
Since 2005. Dean of the Faculty of Design at KHiO, Kunsthogskolen i Oslo, Norway.
A faculty running programs in Communication Design, Fashion, Costume, Furniture and Interior Architecture.
Doing research in design society, innovation and cultural studies.
Teaching courses on alchemy, semiology, urban studies, history of the image, history of design, ethics of design and the oscillations of fashion.
Runs a private design and architectural practice (DogS Design), designs buildings, exhibitions and landscape projects. Makes business plans, feasibility studies and interiors.

Professional Experience.
2005- Dean of the Faculty of Design at KHiO, Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Norway.
2001-2004 Dean of the Department of Design and Architecture, Icelandic Academy of the Arts in Reykjavík, Iceland.
1993-2001 Senior lecturer at Portsmouth School of Architecture, University of Portsmouth, England, teaching architectural theory, criticism and philosophy in addition to studio teaching.
1992-1999 One of the directors of Distance Communications Limited, in England, which started in 1992 with the project 777 art exchange and exhibitions in seven different cities in Europe.
1980-1993 Running an architectural practice that he founded, now named GLÁMA/KÍM, which is still operating in Iceland. www.glamakim.is
1980 - 1982 Work on a new English dictionary in Iceland for Örn og Örlygur, publishers.
Work in various architectural offices during the years of education, since before taking gymnasium exam:
1973 - 1978 Teiknun sf. - An architectural firm of Stefán Benediktsson and Pálmar Ólason.
1972 - 1973 The Town Planning Office of Gestur Ólafsson, architect and planner, in Reykjavík.
1970 - 1972 The Rural Building Authority in Iceland. (Byggingastofnun Landbúnaðarins).

Projects.
Cultural Centre located in the harbour of Kopavogur, Iceland.
Gardarsholm, a cultural centre about sustainability, Nordic sailing history and culture in Iceland, located in Husavik, Iceland.
Just completing MYVATN NATURE BATHS, an entrepreneurial project in the north of Iceland, opened 30th June 2004.
Many private houses in Iceland, such as:
Stallasel 8, R., Eskiholt 7, Garðabæ, Dverghamrar 4, R., Dverghamrar 6, R., Bæjarás 1, Mos., Brekkuland 4a, Mos., Kaldasel 4, R., Tjaldanes 14, Garðabæ.

Writings.
Hönnun, Auðlind til Framtíðar, a book about design and creative industries in national policy for Iceland. April 2007.
Currently writing a book named: WHAT IS DESIGN? A book on the theory and practice of design in present society. Due to be finished in 2005.
MYVATN NATURE BATHS, in Proceedings from the conference on Entrepreneurship and Design in Oslo, May 2004.
A compendium book in urban studies, named BORGARMYNSTUR, published in 2003.
On The Metaphysics of Form, published in 2004.
Editor of the science review JÖKULL, an annual publication of the Icelandic Glaciological Society.
Various writings in specialist magazines on architecture and design, and also in mainstream magazines on popular culture and philosophy.

Education.
Spring 2004 Course in New Management Lifestyle at the Reykjavik Business University.
From 1998 Currently writing a Phd in architectural theory named: The Choreography of Matter, a project slowed by academic positions.
1980-1982 University of Iceland. Studies in traditional philosophy.
1979-1980 Studies in art history and semiotics at the University of Bologna, Italy, sponsored by a grant from the European Council.
Faculty of Art History (Istituto di Storia Dell'Arte "I. B. Supino"), (professor Omar Calabrese) and DAMS (Discipline Dell'Arte, Musica e Spettacolo), (professor Umberto Eco.)
1977-1979 Post-graduate studies at Portsmouth School of Architecture ending in a diploma in Architecture specializing in addition to architectural design in criticism, theory and semiotics.
1973-1977 Study for a BA-degree in architecture at Portsmouth School of Architecture, England, ending in a first-class degree.
Before that traditional schooling in Iceland, finishing A-levels in mathematics, physics, literature and English in 1972, from Hamrahlid Gymnasium, Reykjavik.

Southend Pier Competition, England 1978, 1st commended entry.
Crown Decorative Products Ltd., Colours in Architecture, 1980. Award.

Borholuhús - Design competition for Geothermal pump stations in the city of Reykjavík 1991, Honour award.
Competition for a Municipal Service Station in Mosfellsbaer, 1992, 1st and 2nd price.
